About this route
Jersey’s north coast is wild compared with the south: high granite cliffs, gorse, and paths that climb steeply out of every bay. This section runs from the little harbour at Bonne Nuit, round the headland, to the pier at Bouley Bay.
Expect to walk the steepest steps. Even strong runners do. Sections of 20% or more mean your pace will look slow, so judge it by effort and enjoy the views.
Coaching notes
Draft notes, awaiting review by our instructors.
- Power-hike the climbs: hands on thighs, short steps. It’s often as fast as running and saves your legs.
- Descents: look three steps ahead, keep your feet quick and light, and walk anything you’re unsure of.
- Shoes: trail shoes with grip make a real difference, especially when it’s wet.
